I’m meeting some girlfriends for brunch and can’t wait to get caught-up over some mimosas. I was reading this article the other day about maintaining your friendships as you get older and it really resonated with me.
Once you throw kids into the mix and find yourself juggling increasing work responsibilities, it can be difficult to find time on the calendar (and energy) to keep up with everyone. I’ll admit that at times I find myself wanting to blow-off plans when I’m tired and just want to be home, but I am always so glad when I don’t. I consider myself fortunate that I have a circle of friends who make it a priority to carve time out of their schedules to meet for walks, yoga, shopping, dinner, drinks, whatever. It is so important. We are each other’s sounding boards, cheerleaders, therapists, and mentors.
Like all relationships, friendships take work and effort…but the juice is worth the squeeze 🙂
Another good read about why your girlfriends can be good for your health.
