Tatcha’s Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder is a mouthful to say, but man does it work wonders on the skin.
I first heard about this exfoliating face wash from Japan from one of my favorite bloggers- Liz, at MySubscriptionAddiction. Liz receives beauty products on the regular from hundreds of companies around the world, so when she swears by something, I take note.
Formulated without parabens, sulfates or phthalates, Tatcha claims that this rice-bran based cleanser and exfoliating powder will make your skin smoother, your skin tone more even, and help pores appear smaller. I need all the help I can get in that department, so after reading dozens of online reviews, I decided to try it.
The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the packaging was. As silly as it sounds, it just felt luxe.
As you can see from the photos, it’s a very fine powder. Most cleansing/exfoliating products that I have used have been a liquid or cream consistency, so I was immediately intimidated (and curious) with how to use this.
There is a small hole in the lid that allows you to pour out just the right amount of product into the palm of your hand. It can easily be closed to prevent spills if traveling.
When mixed with water, the powder instantly turns into a creamy foam. Make sure your face is damp and gently massage the cleanser, avoiding eye contact. Rinse and pat dry.
I swear after the very first use my skin texture felt smoother. I get facials quarterly and am always told that it is crucial for my oily skin to exfoliate regularly to help with breakouts and uneven skin tone. The problem is that I also have sensitive skin, and many exfoliators irritate my skin and leave it feeling raw. This Tatcha powder is totally different- it is so gentle and non-irritating.
I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and I too, am obsessed. My skin is noticeably softer and smoother. While I can’t honestly say I’ve noticed any difference in the size of my pores, my make-up looks more even after applying it. Also, after using twice a day for 3 weeks, I’ve barely put a dent in the jar, so I think it will last for quite a while. If you are looking for a high-quality, gentle exfoliator, give it a try.
