Sunday Night Reflections…

I had one of those rare weekends where I actually accomplished everything on my to do list and still managed to relax:

I met up with girlfriends for a long walk- I need the exercise and we desperately needed to get caught up and most importantly, plan our birthday celebrations. (the 3 of us have birthdays all in a row, so naturally we extend it to a birthday week) 🙂  I think we have decided on a ladies’ lunch and spa day.

It may be September, but it’s still a gazillion degrees in Florida. I managed to get in a couple of hours of sun (and maybe a couple of beers) and plow through the stack of magazines that have been piling up on my coffee table…

Courtesy of our leaking shower, we picked out flooring and shower tile for our master bathroom renovation and actually managed to not kill each other in the decision-making process. (there is a craft beer brewery right down the street from the tile store- I figured if I fed my husband pizza and gave him some good beer ahead of time, he wouldn’t care as much about the price of Italian Carrera marble)

P.S. I was right.

The scaffolding and tarp that has been covering our house for months thanks to a massive window replacement project in the neighborhood has finally been removed and we can see out of our windows again- I cannot explain how suffocating it is to not be able to see out of your windows for that long. All of my herbs and plants on our patio died due to the lack of sunlight and I am so anxious to get them going again.

Luckily, my Persian lime tree survived and is producing tons of limes! Even more exciting, I got a new camera! I have been wanting a good camera for some time now, so I treated myself to an early birthday present. I’m in love with it- now I just need to figure out how to use it…the lenses are complicated for a novice like me.

Here are my test pics…you can see from the first picture that although the new windows are in, we still don’t have framing and window sills, but…hey…progress.

We enjoyed a nice long date night and I discovered my new favorite cocktail: “The Hummingbird”

To make:

1 1/2 ounce St. Germain Elderflower

2 ounces Champagne (any dry/brut sparking wine will do)

2 ounces club soda

Basil leaf or lemon to garnish

Combine all ingredients with ice and stir. DELISH! I have to warn you though, it goes down like water…

And…our season tickets to the theater have finally arrived- I CANNOT wait to see Book of Mormon!!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend too!
