Pinterest Recipe of the Week- Easy Beef & Broccoli


My husband loves Chinese food- he could eat it 3-4 times a week and be perfectly content. Me? Not so much. It’s usually chock full of sodium, calories and all kinds of MSG/food additives. In an effort to work more of it into our week night dinners, I went searching for a recipe that was healthy, easy to make (a requirement since we both work so late these days) and something that looked like it would satisfy his Chinese cravings. I found this recipe from and figured I’d give it a try.

The results? Yum. The broccoli was crunchy and the dressing/sauce was perfectly seasoned and just spicy enough. He gobbled it up and the best part is that it was thrown together in less time than I could watch an episode of Jeopardy, so I considered it a success. 🙂


Easy 15 Minute Beef & Broccoli recipe from

Yield 4 servings


    • 2/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
    • 1/2 cup chicken stock
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1 tablespoon flour
    • 1 teaspoon Sriracha, or more, to taste
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
    • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, chicken stock, honey, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, flour, Sriracha, ginger, red pepper flakes and 1/4 cup water; set aside.
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add steak and cook, flipping once, until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in broccoli and soy sauce mixture until tender and slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Serve immediately
    • *Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired
