What to Pack for a Weekend in Washington, D.C.
Thanks to some sweet deals with JetBlue, we’re heading to Washington, D.C. for a few days…

Cherry Blossom Festival

We’re going to go to the Cherry Blossom festival and do a little sight-seeing around the city. Both of my parents are from Virginia, so D.C. is an area I’m pretty familiar with, but it has been a few years since I’ve been and even longer since I’ve played tourist. I haven’t been to some of the major museums since I was a kid, so I’m really looking forward to wandering around and seeing the sites. I think this is the perfect time to walk around the city- the temperatures should be nice and the city is (hopefully) awash in pink blossoms.

The Cherry Blossom festival celebrates the 3,000 cherry trees that the Mayor of Tokyo gifted to the city in 1912. When spring hits and they begin to bloom, the area along the tidal basin is beautiful. And from what I’m reading, the blossoms are at their peak right now.

What to Pack for a Weekend in Washington, D.C. Savoring Saturdays

Partly because I’m a list-maker and partly because of my aching need for a getaway, I have had my suitcase packed for a few days. Don’t you just hate packing? I will easily spend 2 hours pulling things together while Kevin comes along behind me and has his suitcase packed-up in 4 minutes flat. Literally. 🙂 I stuck with my normal neutral palette so that I can swap out as needed.
Let me know if you have any travel tips for us!

  1. I love packing which is why I usually do it at least a day ahead. Thinking about all the places I will wear my various outfits is pure pleasure. But I loathe unpacking. I put that off for as long as possible.

    1. LOL, I just dump it all in the washing machine! I have GOT to get better at packing- it takes me hours. It’s embarrassing.
