Blush Mystery Beauty Subscription Box Review- August 2014

What: Blush Mystery Beauty Box

Blush Mystery Beauty Box  is a monthly beauty box subscription from This was one of my first subscription boxes and it remains one of my favorites- almost every item is high-end and full-sized. (and those that aren’t full-sized are deluxe sized)

Cost: $25/month

Each month you get a card detailing the products…the theme for August is “beat the heat.”

First look at the August box!

Dr. Brandt BB Matte with Signature Shine Erase- Light to Medium Shade: Full Size/value $39

Hands down, best item in the box for me. I live in Florida, so our summers (and springs and falls) are HUMID. I am constantly battling shine and oil, so a matte, shine reducing BB cream is right up my alley. For those of you who aren’t familiar with BB creams, they are all in one creams that replace serum, moisturizer, primer, sunblock, and foundation. I’ve only recently started to use them, but have quickly become a fan. They are great for days that you don’t have the time or energy to put on a full face of makeup, or if you want some SPF with just a hint of coverage. Anything that speeds up my “getting ready” time in the morning is worth a shot. I have used pore reducing products from Dr. Brandt with great success, so I was excited to see this product in my bag! And this alone is worth more than what I paid for the entire box.

Nick Chavez Plump ‘N Thick Thickening Shampoo: 2 oz/value $5

Full Size: $20

Neuma neuStyling Texturizer: Full Size/value $24

I love trying new hair texturizers- this one was thick and creamy and gave my hair some nice hold and tamed the frizz. I recommend twisting your hair with a little product in your palms and working it through. It’s mildly sticky though, so watch the amount you use. I used it a few times last week and I liked it.

Nailtiques Color Lacquer with Protein: Full Size/value $9

Love this color- bright, fun and perfect for summer. I used to always just pick & use the nail polish at the salon, but now I actually prefer to take my own. Not only is it more sanitary, but that way if you chip your polish- you can easily touch up at home.

Pixi by Petra Lid Last Shadow Pen (Graphite Glint) Full Size/value $18

This is a shadow, liner and highlighter in one. It’s a dark gray- perfect for a smokey eye and I found that it blended easily.

SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream: .25 oz/value $18

Full Size: $124

You can tell right away that this face cream is thick and high quality. (as it should be at that full priced price!) It’s supposed to firm skin, reduce sun damage and signs of aging…I liked it. Because of my skin type, it’s too thick for me to wear during the day, but perfect to apply before bed. In the morning, my skins was really soft. I will definitely use this tube up and pray I don’t love it too much to have to buy it.

Overall Opinion: the value of the box was $110 and I only paid $25 for it. As always with Blush, I think it’s a terrific box! I think they do a great job of including hair, skin, and make-up items and I love how many of the items were full-sized. If you have an extra $25 and want to treat yourself, this is a great box for you.

Did you get this month’s Blush Mystery Beauty box? What did you think?
