BeautyFix by Dermstore Subscription Box Review- August 2015

What: BeautyFix by Dermstore

Wow- I have to say, the August BeautyFix box was amazing! I always say this subscription box gives you great bang for your buck, and this month’s was no exception. BeautyFix is a monthly beauty box subscription from Dermstore. This was one of my first subscription boxes and it remains one of my favorites- almost every item is high-end and often full-sized. (and those that aren’t full-sized are usually deluxe sized) You usually get between 7-10 items.

Cost: $24.95/per month OR $34.95 for a 1-time purchase. In fact, if you sign-up for a monthly subscription right now, this box is 1/2 off. ($12.48) Click here

Let’s take a look at the goodies…they came to a value of $165!!

Alterna Daily Densifying Foam ($36) This is full-sized and already worth more than what I paid for the entire box. This is supposed to give your hair volume and make it looker thicker/fuller. I used it this morning and I liked it- it smells great and it didn’t make my hair “crunchy” like many mousse/foams do. Alterna makes really nice products, I’ve used their serum and gels thanks to subscription boxes and have always liked them. This contains no parabens, sulfates or phthalates either.

Medicell Labs Advanced Redness Relief Hydrating Cream ($60) Again, full-sized and look at what it retails for! This lotion can be used on face, neck and body to relieve redness and hydrate. It calms inflamation and soothes skin. As someone who has redness, I’m super anxious to try it! I’ve only used it twice so it’s still too early to tell if it works, but the reviews for it are superb. I liked that it was lightweight and not at all greasy. It is also paraben free. I am almost finished with my other moisturizer, so I will switch to this full time and report back. (still finishing this one which I love)

Keranique Scalp Stimulating Shampoo and Volumizing Keratin Conditioner ($8) This shampoo thickens and strengthens and the keratin conditioner help add fullness. I threw these in my travel bag for our next trip. They are a decent sample size- plenty for 4-5 shampoos.

Patchology Flashmasque Facial Sheet- Exfoliate ($6) This is a facial sheet (which always makes me giggle when wearing it- reminds me of Judd Law in The Holiday) (LOVE that movie BTW) and it contains lactic acid and aloe vera to hydrate your skin as well as exfoliate. Every Sunday night I give myself a face mask or peel, so this one goes in the pile!

Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash ($4) The gel cleanser has microbeads to help exfoliate. The timing of this was perfect as I just finished my last cleanser, so I’ve been using it for the past couple of days. Again, too early to tell if I love it, but it definitely makes my skin soft and doesn’t leave it dried out. The microbeads are just small enough to not irritate my skin too.

Glytone Cleanse Mild Gel Wash ($5) Yay, more face wash! I love trying out face wash without having to commit to a full size, so this is great for me 🙂 This one will be up next- need to finish the Bliss. I used a Glyton eye cream last year and I liked it, so hopefully I have good luck with this as well. It contains glycolic acid to exfoliate and improve texture and tone. It also has good reviews online.

SmartFX Smarteye Wrinkle Lift ($30) Another full-sized item! YES, I got this last year in a BeautyFix box and loved it so I am super happy to have more. It’s a lightly tinted cream that you put underneath your eyes to plump the eye area and fill in lines. It really does make the wrinkles fade for a few hours! It feels a little “tight” but you get used to it and after about a minute, you can see the improved appearance. Good stuff.

Paula’s Choice Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment ($17) Full-size! This is clearly a skin care box, eh? Totally fine with me!! This is a benzoyl peroxide (2.5%) based clearing lotion to treat blemishes and prevent new breakouts from forming. Always good to have a spot treatment on hand.

I think this box had a tremendous amount of value for only $25.00. I miss having a make-up item, but it’s not a big deal since I love skin care products. Total win for me.
