I’m not much of a “sweets for breakfast” kind of person, but my husband is and he loves all things apple. So when I stumbled upon this recipe for an apple cinnamon french toast bake, I knew it was the perfect thing to make on a rainy Saturday morning. I turned up Beyoncé and began chopping away at my apples, taking care to slice them (more or less) the same size so that they would cook evenly.
The smell of the butter, cinnamon and apples sizzling away…le sigh 🙂I’d recommend using some good quality, crusty bread. I used a multi-grain, but the options are endless…brioche, French, anything you have.Let the bread cubes sit for a bit and do their thing. They need a few minutes to soak up all of the milk/egg/cinnamon goodness. (Bey and I were really jamming at this point)Top the bread with the apples and into the oven they go… While digging through my pantry looking for syrup, (I wasn’t even sure I had any) I found this cute little bottle that was itching to be served with apple cinnamon French toast. A match made in heaven, am I right?? Admittedly, it’s not the prettiest of platings and I’m pretty sure I’ll never make it as a food photographer, but who cares- it was delicious. Moist and not at all too sweet, we ate it for the next 3 days. It really was the perfect weekend breakfast. Recipe can be found here. Enjoy!
