“The culture of drink endures because it offers so may rewards: confidence for the shy, clarity for the uncertain, solace to the wounded and lonely, and above all, the elusive promises of friendship and love.” Pete Hamill, Journalist
It all started with a bar cart. A really pretty gold and wood bar cart that I simply had to have. I convinced my husband that since we were adults in our mid-30’s and we like to entertain, it only made sense that we should have a properly stocked bar, right? So, I dug all of the spirits and mixers out of our pantry and went to work “styling” the bar cart. (it’s a real thing- Pinterest says so)
Since then, we’ve really upped our cocktail game. We’ve enjoyed coming home from work, especially on Fridays, and making some classic cocktails. While looking up some Campari recipes the other day, I found this fun article by Michael Ditsch/Serious Eats on the 25 Cocktails Everyone Should Know. I was intrigued. I thought for sure this would be an easy challenge and I’d know them all, but surprisingly, I didn’t. Guess I have some work to do this summer!
The writer, Michael Ditsch, includes some interesting background info on each of the drinks. (he’s also clearly someone I’d share a French 75 with) So, here you have it- 25 classics. (article here)
How many have you had?
